Sapphire Peak
Sapphire Peak is the Tallest Mountain of the Lios Kingdom. It stands a mesmerizing 10 kilometres high. Many visitors of the hold often comment on it's strange aura. How many find themselves feeling light headed and airy. Maybe the thin air of this immense altitude? Or it might just be a magical atmosphere. The inhabitants are very much used to this aura, sometime they are considered as lightheaded and airy as the hold itself. But for the most part, the people are smart and wise. It's position means on a good day you can see Ruby Peak, and Emerald Peak. From this, it has always overseen many of the political sides of the Lios.
It is the Capital City of the Kingdom. For many humans it might be considered a small town, but with the population of the Fey people dwindling, it is considered a hub of excitement. Not nearly as big as Nighteye, but certainly a notable feature to the mountain. It's historic buildings still stand tall. Many have fallen into disrepair but are in no way likely to fall. Ancient fey architecture flows through the elegant streets, the houses almost appear to be part of the mountain, as if the mountain was made from the homes itself. Rope Bridges and steep staircases make up the streets of Sapphire Peak, linking home to home, and all stairs meet at the top; the council chamber and the Ritual Circle.
The council chamber stands tall and elegant, the carefully designed walls often laden with snow. The peak of the tower is level with the peak of the mountain, where a beacon stands. The beacon will only be lit in dire emergency, and it lit to warn their brothers of an impending attack. It was last lit at the start of the ritual war, as the first strike was delivered. In these days many other beacons responded. Though the only ones known to still remain functional are those at Emerald and Ruby Peak. The fire has been cold for many years now. Since the end of the war the peak has grown colder and a mist protects it from view... but also impairs the view of the kingdom itself. Though, in need, the beacons would burn bright enough to penetrate the clouds.
A notable house would be House Draphani'a. They are well known across the peaks, and hold honor and Pride highly. Much like many of the people who call this region their home, family does not mean name to them. All friends and neighbours are considered family to the Lios. House Draphani'a like to enforce this idea. Funerals, weddings, baptisms, birthdays, all family events are public affairs and some events can go on for days. Much like Ruby Peak, Sapphire Peak has a fair few people who are the only of their name. Refugees, or descendants of refugees, or even soldiers from the war, who have not yet returned home or have no home to return to. Being badly hit, the people of Sapphire peak are greatly affected and remember the War like it was only days ago. Memorials stand on every street reminding the people of their losses. Though the dead are never left within the walls, their name remains carved upon these stones. The stones refer directly to WHERE someone died, and has no reference to rank - only identity. Everyone who gave their life during the war is regarded with the uttermost respect, and veterans are treated like royalty.
There are not a lot of resources at this altitude, and many of the food is shipped in from Emerald Peak. The greenest of the peaks. There are a few fields, but the cold weather makes it hard to grow food. The little vegetation there is at this height is protected, as it thickens the air and makes the Peak livable. Many druids spend day and night protecting and caring for the gardens that maintain their life fource - air. The citizens have found many ways of stockpiling resources, perfected during the war. The stores of the keep will maintain a large population for two years. With the shrinking population, this could be rationed and stretched for a much longer time until a trade route could once again be maintained. After being destroyed, many believed it not to be worthwhile to rebuild the Emerald Peak, but it's rich soil lead the Heads of the Council to put a lot of time and effort in simply to feed their people.
