Lios Background Information
The Lios describe themselves as „The children of the dawn?. They are of the race of fey, elf-like creatures and one of the races who fought against the humans in the Great War. Before the war the Lios were a bright happy people, having an almost childlike demeanour, they would live their lives wrapped up in their own worlds of peace and solitude and study. They pondered the ways nature entwined with magic and how the gods touched all things created. The suffering of the land and their people has left them bitter and angry for the most part as they have lost much. Their once great cities lay in ruins, their culture little more than a memory. All that remain are broken remnants of military units - nearly all their civilians were slain in the first few days of the war. The humans and Dverg unleashed all they had at their perceived greatest threat. Huge swathes of knowledge have been lost because of the utter destruction of Lios fonts of learning. Even the most hard-line church knight realises that perhaps these should have been captured, instead of reducing them to ash by intense ritual attack. All fey are long lived, which can be a curse as well as a boon, for the survivors of the war remember it as if it were yesterday, although these days a number of Lios have contracted a malady linked to their overall disposition of despair and their minds are deliberately forgetting the worst episodes . Perhaps this is a safety mechanism, scholars muse that it is protecting them from madness! Lios distrust humans and Dverg and hold them directly responsible for the war. They have recently become more tolerant, and have seen that not all the other inhabitants of Af?ael are bad. Lios war bands fight a hit and run war with the crusaders whom enter the wilds.
Roleplaying Lios
Very few Lios are untouched by the war. Sometimes the light and happiness will shine through their quiet brooding demeanour, but not often. They have a house based social structure that they hold onto with great passion as its all they have left. Examples of such houses are the Vantarthin and Efrigail (players are also encouraged to invent their own houses).
Lios Costume Requirements
Lios have tanned skin, light hair and pointed ears. You MUST have phys-rep pointed ears to play a Lios. Lios are close to nature, their equipment and clothing is well made, more often than not of shades of green or brown. Lios are well spoken and well-read even the roughest soldier; it?s all they have left of their ancestry

The Lios and D'rough where at one time one people, there race simply called Fey, it was only with the Wrath wars that the Fey race split into 3 the Lios, D'rough and Mourn. This was done to stop the Wrath war from happening again.
The three "races" still share alot in common, all three can be very arrogant they view the fey as the top race and are distrustful of others. They see the other races as tools to be used, both the D'rough and Lios use other races as mercenary's but even the ones that have earned the respect of there employers are kept on the outside never truly allowed into the Fey world.
All three races are long lived and have long memories, they remember well offenses made against them and do not easily forgive.
The mourn are what the fey are meant to be, they can be happy and joyful taking pleasure in the scholarly arts one minute, the next they can be bitter and angry, taking joy from torture and murder. Though they are careful not to take either to the extreme.
The Lios are the lighter side of the fey nature, once happy in the pursuit of the scholarly arts now since the war they are very down and moody (emo!!!) taking vengeance on the church where ever they can. There military nature now coming to the fore.
The D'rough are the darker side of the fey nature, once seen as bitter and angry by those not of the fey race, they pursued the arts of stealth and murder, since the war the D'rough have seemed to trade places with the Lios they are now the happy ones though the arts they follow have not changed.
Both these nations are made up of houses, There are 8 main houses for each, and number of minor houses. But with the war the Lios numbers are seriously depleted. the houses are D'rough
HOUSE N’ETHRIL HOUSE MORDEL HOUSE N’TAL HOUSE GA’DUI HOUSE DRATHARNI HOUSE KERRINGOR HOUSE CARANDOR HOUSE SAVANTARNI
Lios HOUSE N’ETHRIL'A HOUSE MORDEL'A HOUSE N’TAL'A HOUSE GA’DUI'A HOUSE DRATHARNI'A HOUSE KERRINGOR'A HOUSE CARANDOR'A HOUSE SAVANTARNI'A
Players can pick to be from one of these houses if they wish or they can be from a minor house.
Both D'rough and Lios never feel quite whole, its as if something is missing inside. Its only when they spend time in the company of each other that this feeling subsides. Though there may be personal disputes between individuals, the Lios and D'rough see each other as family and it is very very rare for there to be blood shed between them. For example its not uncommon for a D'rough to trust a Lios more than someone from a different house and vice versa.
Got to make this point clear these are not High elf's and Drow, they are not enemies. Any players looking to play either Lios or D'rough if you need any more info or have any other questions about them drop me a message. Also there are private boards for both of these races let me know if your playing one so i can give you access.

A glimpse of cracked perfection A study of the Fae By Elaquin Hart
Long before The War the Fae race was one and were magically and ritually advanced. Due to this the race, was generally considered the most powerful in the entire World. Their ritual and magical abilities had advanced so far that little or no mundane work was done by fae, themselves – the most part being done by constructs or summoned controlled beings. Due to this, groups of fae began forming guilds dedicated to the pursuit of one aspect of society.
The fea mind is capable of a far deeper level of emotion, concentration and imagination than that of any other race bar perhaps felidae, although their mind set differs due to the society they live in.
It is this reason they were and are so adept at esoteric things.
Although they are capable of experiencing great joys and creating the most beautiful pieces of art and music they are also capable of experiencing the deepest depression and ugliest hate. Those fae who formed the more some would say sadistic such as the Guild of Pain or the Guild of Murder, became more extreme and depraved as time went on.
Torture and murder came to be seen as art forms every bit as praiseworthy as poetry and sculpture.
The fae being long-lived, never suffered from senility, thus their superior intellect allowed them to perfect their skills to a degree far beyond that of even the most talented humans. The fae were able to devise cunning new ways of torturing and killing their fellows at rates never imagined.
Some wiser more philanthropic fae warned that the fae faced a doom if they did not change their ways, the gods created and hated unnatural death and despised the unmaking of that which they had made.
The ruling guilds within the fae lands collapsed and the moral degeneration of their cities continued. As the active pursuit of ever more extreme experience reached its zenith, death stalked the streets of fae cities, hunter and hunted becoming part of a twisted ritual of destruction.. Some fae saw that their society was destroying itself, and fled in disgust; these few sailed across the western sea and formed distant colonies, these it seem have become lost but are known to some fae elders as the Mourn.
Theologians of many religions preach that upon dying, the soul or spirit of the deceased becomes one with the spirit world unless something forces it to remain in the physical. Angered spirits began to prey on the fae cities as the righteous revenge filled wraiths sought reprisal. In the end the fae realised that the threat from these wraith hosts was so great that all else bar the combat of them ceased.
This Wraithwar destroyed the fae Empire, leaving scattered bands of fae fighting for survival. In order to prevent the events of The Wraithwar from ever happening again, the fae race split. Thus the Lios and d’rough were born.
The fae are forever wary of falling into the same trends that led them to The Wraithwar. In order to avoid slipping into such a wanton disregard for life fae now take an extremely focused view on life. This being called the Watching.
Those fae whom have an inexplicable need to do harm, are greedy, mercenary, selfish and self promoting chose the d’rough - the path of darkness. Those wishing to preserve, teach, learn and act for others became the Lios, Walkers in Light.
The two nations split avowing to never allow the events to escalate again that would destroy them and theirs. A pact was drawn up allowing for exchanges to take place when ever a d’rough was approaching callus brutality of their predecesors by their actions, could be led to the Lios for Calming and likewise a Lios becoming to hypnotised and insensitive to the real world lost in their world of study and introspection could be taken to be awakened by the d’rough.
This way of life is not without its perils though. Sometimes, an fae will suffer an inability to leave their current Path, turning into dark unsanctioned murderers if d’rough or dribbling semi corpses so locked within the supernatural they are unable to feed themselves if lios .
These fae are viewed with a great deal of pity, as they exhibit the same failings that brought about The Wraithwar.
And often executed.
From findings post Wilds War we know that the Lios are all but anhilated and all that remains are scattered units of their armies bent on the destruction of the human Empire. The far better hidden d’rough enclaves were assailed and in some cases destroyed but at least 3 large cities still exist of this death steeped race.
Scholars note that the two races almost seemed to have exchanged personae. The lios now are bitter and hate filled war mongerers and the d’rough have hid themselves away to study. What they study we know not but many feel that it will not bode well for the enemies of the fae
